English spelling is so funny,
Lots of letters aren't read,
English people are so cunning,
They are hard to understand.
They write measure, read four sounds,
They write leisure - all the same,
Three of seven teacher counts,
It's a very silly game.
In the "sight","fight","light"and "night",
We don't read "g","h" at all,
It's not wise but it is right,
Thank God for these mercies small.
Language tricks can't be quite got,
We have to obey,
And we'll tell you "thanks a lot",
If you prompt the way.
This way shows a special tool,
"MAnchester", is written right
With the spelling "Liverpool"
Use without fright...,
