Can I Leave This Night?
The calm one and so boundless in its blue
That doesn’t mind to turn a kind of star
Into the ash of sorrow grave and doom
Can I breathe in the smell of soaring poplars?
Piercing the sky with their silver-tipped tops
And can I feel you wherever you are going
And feel you laugh or feel you sob?
We didn’t keep in memory the nights
They had been passing us away
And we had let them go by our quiet glance
Such kind of night was neither yours nor mine, betrayed
And free set we it. Now I do want to keep this night in mind
The calm one and so ceaseless in its blue
You didn’t let me grip and save the star
When dawn has settled its appearing rule…
