Walls of Obsession

What do walls have besides the ears?
Besides the silence broken in them?
Besides the echo of the lonely tears?]
Or pain of everlasting damn?
The walls in my dark, chilly room
Are used to be my deadlock and
Being black with sliding shadowed doom
‘d been turned my sleep into nightmare
It seemed to me wall-paper laugh
Or was ashamed of being gay
Motley it was. I cried “Enough!”
Delirium of mine these walls contain
I tried to cut them by throwing China plate
I gloat; I hope to see their pain.
How they will writhe. Alas, it was in vain.
A little cry of broken plate I heard
Then silence. Walls remain the same
Half-mocking, insolent. They sneer.
I look at them and grow pale
It strikes me that they are playing havoc
Not in my room-in my imagination
I turned to them and gave them look of devil
And called them “Walls of my Obsession”
