Minotaur

I see her face, all set aglow…
My lips are sealed.
She’s free to go.

Her eyes are full of midnight skies,
With sparks of emeralds inside.

Don’t they reflect – day after day –
The time lost, thoughts I spent in vain?

I want to tell her – thousand times –
Of strings that bind her life to mine.

The maze: a thousand twisting paths… –
All lead to me, just one – apart.

This monstrous head with pointed horns
Casts spectral shadows on stones…

Walk through the labyrinth – alone…
Blood booms below my collar bone.

Alas, I’m prompted to surmise
That time’s arrived. – Surprise, surprise!..

Once came, you’ll end up the eclipse,
Will stop the curse, make pain to cease…

But then… – I see your face again.
My lips are sealed.
You’re free, Elaine.
