Fate

We know life is short; it's like a spark, an instant.
Time flows like the sand right through our hand.
The death seams far away, unreachable and distant,
And then one day we wake, and we can see the end.

We often dream of peace, but seldom stop the killings.
We often hate to death, but seldom live to love.
We often search ourselves for deep religious feelings,
But seldom truly pray to Heaven up above.

We try to understand this life through art and science.
To comprehend the way it all begins and ends.
We try to change the world, annoyed by its defiance,
We’re loyal to the strangers, but often sell our friends.

We hurt the ones we love, and love the ones that hurt us.
We're faithful to the sin, and sinful in our faith.
Yet we expect from God his love and his forgiveness thus
Blessed with neither one and that is our fate.
