I cannot forget

We all were bound with Friendship's thread.
Past days of mine can I never forget...
I recall those far bounderies now still,
Where, once as guest, I had full free will!

Those Eastern swans I still can recall,
Amid those chaps strolling round and all,
And then the Capitol on the mound -
With its most wonderful whiteness found!

Those scarlet rose-bouquets too, I recall -
I brought some with me to Moscow, withal,
And welcoming there new Springtime day,
To Moscovites gave all my blooms away...

Spring came to us, again at home.
In the grave did merry thunder-claps come.
So that distant day we do not forget...
We must make new friends, and still love yet!
