Egyptian Night
Liquid golden ripples were swaying on the black water.
Rising crests of waves split off coral reefs
And scattered across the sky
Like a handful of white seashells,
Turning into myriads of stars…
I was walking along the shore,
With salty splashes on my skin.
Carried away by power of the sea,
Its thrill and roughness.
I met you in the darkness.
You were standing with a long black veil
On your face.
And waves were splashing to your feet
In sweet embrace.
I could recognize you.
As you never left my heart.
The strong wind was blowing through your garment
You were a rock with loneliness on your lips,
Not a vision of dreams.
My heart woke up yours
By warmth of the only woman.
We found our world within,
In a long conversation of our eyes.
One step-
We got closer.
Stars were circling before my eyes,
I saw nothing but you.
Your heart like a ship of light
Did not let me lose my way.
One more step-
There’s no surprise -
We knew each other
From life-long dreams.
You pulled the black veil off your face
And tears were dripping down my cheeks.
Yes, I was waiting for you,
"Don’t leave me." I whispered.
"Never," your voice penetrated my heart.
The last step-
And we left the ground.
No horizon, just the sound
Of your breath.
I vanished in folds of your clothes.
The wave overtook us
And rose above the sea.
The star fell on my palm,
And its light showered from the sky
Like a flower
Unfolding its petals at dawn.
My dream has come true
Waiting for the sun
Together with you…
A new day was breaking…
