Down William Street

A lot of people on William Street
People went and they were not armed
Marching down William Street
Who'd have thought there would be any guard
Transparency's in their hands and the soldiers from other side
The Union Jack stood between their shoulders
And both sides believed they were right.

I wasn't there, I wasn't there
And I didn't see them drop.
I wasn't there, I wasn't there,
But I'm crying and I can't stop.

Crying on William Street
With the signs "We shall overcome"
Young boys died on William Street
And we know that nobody's won.
The blood ran down William Street
And the anger was only grown
Under the fire they kept marching forward
Proving that soldiers were wrong.

I wasn't there, I wasn't there
And I didn't see them drop.
I wasn't there, I wasn't there,
But I'm crying and I can't stop.
