The Black Apollo

Delphi

The grey eyes mesmerise;
their omniscient, true gaze
annihilates millennia
that separate our days.

Their clear and unexpected
grace, like water in the flame-
seared face, and half a slender
naked foot survived the blaze.

Two gilded tresses rest
upon his chest; on the museum-
case, a living wasp from Parnassos
traces in gold on glass.
