In your grave
The usual skies stay blue and silent…
But all that was has lost its will,
And all that's seen turns into nothing.
There never will be time for us —
I stand alone above the sea.
You came from dust and went to dust,
In your carved name the world’s end I see.
A whisper's from the grave to me:
That our life is just a day —
It fades away
In the quiet sunset of an age.
That our life is just a rain,
Dissolves the essence of the knowledge
That our life is a desperate scream
Trying to reach the eagle’s valley.
And still, life is a cherished dream
That in a known tomorrow now is dying —
…in your grave.
Above the home where time stands still
I search for past spring at its prime.
I know it’s gone, yet still I feel
The deepest dream in blood of mine.
To stay alive while skies can wait,
The dawn of hope inside this night.
I know the path to morning’s gates —
But in your grave my hope has died.
