Christmas perfume

Christmas… It has its own smell. A perfume of such kind is never bought but granted as a present for one’s open heart and soul longing for catching this aroma.
When I was a child Christmas smelled candies, conifer, oranges, plastic of unwrapped presents, air warmed by fur-tree lights, majesty and mystery of the sleepless night.
Now having grown older I still can recall this reminiscences of the past but the smells have merged into one great Christmas fragrance, they have changed. I smell the warmth of the candles lighten on the festive table along with the warm cordiality of good company. Oranges and candies are now accompanied by the sweet aroma of champagne. Even the Christmas bells have their own smell. And it reminds me of fizz bubbles tickling the nose: astringent and rejoicing.
Aged people probably smell Christmas as a cup of hot tee warmed with sincere affection of their family, as a woolen shawl wrapped over the shoulders together with a grandchild’s hug and as honey viscous nap in the rocking-chair near the hearth with blazing fire.
Even though Christmas smells differently for each age and every person, the main scent of magic occasion remains and lasts all through one’s lifetime bursting out with Christmas aroma cocktail every year.
