AUTHOR'S BIO

Dmitry Blizniuk is a poet from Kharkiv, Ukraine. His most recent poems have appeared in POETRY Magazine, Rattle, The Cincinnati Review, Five Points, The Los Angeles Review, The Nation, Prairie Schooner, Plume, The London Magazine, Guernica, Denver Quarterly, Pleiades and many others. A Pushcart Prize nominee, he is also the author of The Red Fîrest (Fowlpox Press, 2018). His poems have been awarded RHINO 2022 Translation Prize and his folio had been selected as a runner-up in the Gregory O’Donoghue Competition and the 2025 Gabo Prize finalist.

Dmitry Blizniuk works closely with Sergey Gerasimov, a poet, writer, and translator. Sergey Gerasimov is a Ukraine-based writer, poet, and translator of poetry. Among other things, he has studied psychology. He is the author of several academic articles on cognitive activity. His stories and poems written in English have appeared in Adbusters, Clarkesworld Magazine, Strange Horizons, J Journal, The Bitter Oleander, and Acumen, among many others. His last book is Oasis, published by Gypsy Shadow. The poetry he translated has been nominated for several Pushcart Prizes. His stories have appeared in magazines all over the world. His book about the war in Ukraine, Feuerpanorama, in German, can be found on Amazon. NZZ, in Zurich, has published as many as 540 of his antiwar nonfiction pieces since February 24, 2022. A couple of them can be read in English in Another Chicago Magazine.

Dmitry Blizniuk works closely with Yana Kane, who translates his poems from Russian into English. She holds a BSE degree from Princeton University, a PhD in Statistics from Cornell University, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her translations of Blizniuk’s poetry were published or are forthcoming in 128 LIT, American Chordata, Another Chicago Magazine, Interpret Magazine, Lunch Ticket, The Los Angeles Review, Mantis, Rattle, RHINO, Tochka.Zreniya/View.Point, World Literature Today, and World Poetry Review. They appeared in Dislocation (Slavica Publishers, Indiana University, 2024) and in the 2025 Deep Vellum’s Best Literary Translations anthology. Her translations were finalists for the 2025 Gabo Prize for Literature in Translation and received an honorable mention in the 2024 Stephen Mitchell Prize competition.
