Ìåëüíèöà, Ëþáîâü âî Âðåìÿ Çèìû English Translation

Èâàí Íåÿñûòü
You say your heart is filled with ice
Why does it burn and agonize
Maybe cause ice’s closest kin
Is water boiling from within
The water that fills up the skies

The winter comes athwart the spring
To all that’s hot the snow would cling
And not a false dream ever hath
And ever would bestrew our path
Under the sightless night’s blue wing

There is nothing that would remain of us
We would barely have us out of all that’s lost
And the winged fire beats in freeness
There between us
Like the love in the time of frost

The granite boils, the axis turns
For that’s what history ever learns
As it’s for every boat and sword
A woman’s name it’s always bore
What’s there for us? What’s left on board?

Now close your eyes and leaf again
Through our secret parchment fane
The ice is red hot in its core
The love’s more terrible than war
Much more than steel the love has slain

Much more because it’s you alone
Who runs to every tempest blown
Let there be fight and timeless rue
With no to stand on, no to view
But necessarily – with you!

There is nothing that would remain of us
We at best would have us out of all that’s lost
It is good that the fire we’re bearing
Is no more scary
Like the love in the time of frost
