A bird fell from its nest;
its parents never guessed
Such a sad and tragic blow
could shatter lives so blessed.
In the empty gloom,
sadness took a room.
As their small hearts broke to pieces,
teardrops soaked their plumes.

Frightened and fanning the air with its wings,
Their nestling below tries to fly.
Pounding the earth but just raising the dust,
He longs for his folks in the sky!

On the ground nearby,
a little boy named Cy
Quickly found the bird that lay there,
way too tired to cry.
With a mild caress,
he raised it to his chest,
Showed it to the birds above him,
watching in distress.

“Don't worry, your small one's in my trusty hands;
He'll soon be back with you,” he vows.
“Be brave and get movin',” he says to the chick.
“Say 'Hi' to the sun b'yond the clouds!”

With a sudden spring,
the nestling soon took wing,
Then rejoined the flock high flying,
and began to sing.
Soaring without care,
the swifts rejoicing there,
Wheeled round and round in cartwheels,
trilling filled the air.

The joy in the boy can be seen in his eyes,
They're bright with delight from above.
The song of the swifts reaches down to the ground,
Just listen—and join in the love!
Just listen—you'll hear it all around!
