Farewell, my dear Bombay

Ô¸äîð Áèðþ÷åâ
Farewell, my dear Bombay.
Now obscurity’s welcoming me
As I’m sailing further away
From your Devi across the sea.

“You should never regret a thing”-
Afterglow's whisper is heard.
Will you keep that thrill of your wing
Through the blackout and under the sword?

You will never lose what's meant thine
So let go the borrowed safely
Thine keeps waiting perfectly fine
Like Mumbai -  in shimmering paisley.

Like Mumbai that'll keep all doors wide
Once you land on its motley ground.
Do not leave dear dream aside,
Walk with it, and it will resound.

It will sate all your hunger at last,
With the days so full yet so plain.
Mother tongue as if from your past
Will then be on your lips again.

Yet I'm leaving now, Bombay,
In night's silk you're waving goodbye.
Off to hazy distance I sway
Being watched by your well-wishing eye.

Farewell, my dear Bombay,
We shall cross paths again anyway.
