Forgive me, Lord, my thoughts, when I
think of myself more than I ought to.
I know, selfish thoughts should die
and serving You should be my motto.
You are my Lord, I can't conceive
the grandeur of Your whole Being.
Teach me with grace to receive
all things that You for me are giving.
All things... Let sorrows and joys
dwell in my life as You plan.
You'll overthrow Satan's ploys
and any scheming of a man.
I can't conceive Your wisdom's might.
I can't obey You as I should.
But lovingly You come and fight
by turning bad things into good.
This blows my mind, makes me meek
to see Your care, love and grace.
Help to be grateful and seek
Your will for me, Your word, Your face.
Forgive my stubborn heart, my will,
my scattered thinking when I pray.
Increase my faith and instill
the longing to observe Your Way.
