Distance is not the Realm of Fox by Emily Dickinso

Эмили Дикинсон -Сергей Ёлтышев
Не даль, где царство лис; не ей
птиц лётом умалять;
а даль - до той поры, пока
ты есть, любовь моя.

(Эмили к Сью.)

[David Preest:
The ‘Beloved’ of the poem is probably Sue.
Some time during the 1860’s Emily had
begun a period of not visiting Sue, even
though she only lived a hundred yards or so
away. This period was to last for fifteen
years. So Emily can say that true ‘Distance’
is the small space between herself and Sue,
rather than the huge tracts roamed by a
fox or the distance which only relays
of birds could wipe out.]

Distance -- is not the Realm of Fox by Emily Dickinson

Distance -- is not the Realm of Fox
Nor by Relay of Bird
Abated -- Distance is
Until thyself, Beloved.
