Morning
Stars are growing feeble. On fire are skies.
The white vapor is spread in the meadows.
By the willow curls and the lake the dawn glides,
Scatters its scarlet light over shadows.
Restless reeds are asleep. Very still is the place.
You can get soaking wet at that hour -
Just on touching a tvig silver dew on your face
All at once is poured out as a shower.
Now comes a gentle breeze, boats rocks with the swell,
Ducks have rushed and have disappeared,
On a road apart clearly jingles a horse-bell,
Fishermen their shallops have neared.
They are carrying nets; on their shoulders are oars...
And the East keeps on burning and flaring,
Birds start whistling and singing in fields of green oats,
Moistened trees their crowns are airing.
Now is rising the sun, showing up over fields,
Having left its night place over oceans,
It is pouring bright rays on the hills and the meads
And provokes profound emotions.
A young ploughman sings being glad at his best,
On the horse to the fields he is going...
Do not pain, poor soul, find a much-needed rest!
What a joy is the sun in the morning!

Звёзды меркнут и гаснут. В огне облака.
Белый пар по лугам расстилается.
По зеркальной воде, по кудрям лозняка
От зари алый свет разливается.
Дремлет чуткий камыш. Тишь — безлюдье вокруг.
Чуть приметна тропинка росистая.
Куст заденешь плечом — на лицо тебе вдруг
С листьев брызнет роса серебристая.
Потянул ветерок, воду морщит-рябит.
Пронеслись утки с шумом и скрылися.
Далеко-далеко колокольчик звенит.
Рыбаки в шалаше пробудилися,
Сняли сети с шестов, вёсла к лодкам несут…
А восток всё горит-разгорается.
Птички солнышка ждут, птички песни поют,
И стоит себе лес, улыбается.
Вот и солнце встаёт, из-за пашен блестит,
За морями ночлег свой покинуло,
На поля, на луга, на макушки ракит
Золотыми потоками хлынуло.
Едет пахарь с сохой, едет — песню поёт;
По плечу молодцу всё тяжёлое…
Не боли ты, душа! отдохни от забот!
Здравствуй, солнце да утро весёлое!
