YORK - NIEUW AMSTERDAM* - NEW YORK.

There is an ancient city York in England
In Yorkshire, where the river Fos
It flows into the river Ouse.
In the year there is 1060, when the plague
Mowers, like grass, people, decided residents:
"The fault is Jews, because it is less
They were dying from plague, sparing their homes,
(Because their life was more hygienic)".
From hatred to outsiders like beasts ,
Burned Jews city dwellers in the synagogue.
And the outflow to the mainland of Europe began
Jews from England,
Getting there after the defeat of Rome
And the barbarous destruction of Jerusalem.
It raced five centuries
And the Italian Verazano reached the New World
And where the current New York,
He saw and put on the map a bay,
In which in 1609 he sailed from Holland
Henry Hudson.
He bought an island from the Indians for a dollar, -
Which is now called Manhattan, -
And began to build the city - Nieuw Amsterdam*, -
Dutch colony of trade.
In the year far 1060th.
In the year 1664-th there sailed
The English fleet and city became
Possession of Britain.
And it was renamed
In honor of the King of Britain
James II **
To New York.
God works in mysterious ways:
The name of the city and in a thousand years
Does not allow to forget the descendants
And the executioners and the victims of the atrocities,
Completed in medieval York.

Есть в Англии старинный город Йорк
В Йоркшире, там, где речка Фос
Впадает в реку Уз.
В году там 1060-том, когда чума
Косила, как траву, людей, решили жители:
"Виною в том евреи, поскольку меньше
Их умирало от чумы, щадившей их дома,
(Поскольку быт их был гигиеничней)".
От ненависти к пришлым озверев,
Сожгли евреев горожане в синагоге.
И начался отток на материк Европы
Из Англии еврев,
Добравшихся туда после разгрома Римом
И разрушенья им до основанья Иерусалима.
Промчалось пять веков
И итальянец Веразано добрался в Новый Свет
И там, где нынешний Нью-Йорк,
Увидел и нанёс на карту бухту,
В которой в 1609-ом приплывший из Голландии
Генри Гудзон
Купил за доллар у индейцев остров, -
Который нынче называется Манхэттэн, -
И начал строить город - Новый Амстердам, -
Голландскую торговую колонию.
В году 1664-ом туда приплыл
Английский флот и город стал
Владеньем англичан.
И те его переназвали
В честь короля Британии

В Нью-Йорк.
Пути Господни неисповедимы:
Названье города и через ТЫЩУ лет
Не позволяет позабыть потомкам
И палачей и жертв о зверстве,
Свершившемся в средневековом Йорке
В году далёком 1060-ом.
