MILITARY MISSION

You are far away from me,
On your military mission.
You’re a soldier, and your medals speak for you.
You are far away from your homeland.
You don’t belong to these deserts,
You don’t belong to these mountains.
They spread around you, like a maze.
You are in Afghanistan,
Far away from the normal world.
No-one will understand you there.
No-one will support you there.
People are like a sand storm,
They can stab you in the back with their spears.
A Taliban or a Sunnite won’t share their bread.
Drugs – that’s the Afghan meaning of life.
A gruesome poverty reigns there,
It pours into the world,
It stirs its peace.
It’s a hotspot , hectic and unsettled.
You can make a mistake only once.
You always go first in combat,
Sheltering others with your shoulder.
On this mission you are the responsible one.
I will wait for you, my love,
And no-one will ever change you for me.
You wield power over my life.
I’ve never been in Afghan Kabul,
And now I think of nothing  else.
I can hear the bullets,
Flying around me with a whizz.
There’s a war movie inside my mind.
Afghanistan…
Dawn over Kabul,
Veiled in a delicate mist.
Gentle wind of heat
Forces bodies to sweat.
Stay alive, my love.
I’ll always believe,
I’ll always warm up your soul.
I will never stop loving you.
I’ll walk a harsh path for you.
For our love can’t be hurt,
It can’t be deceived.
I’ll put white rose petals
On the head of my bed
To whisper to you in the night.
I’ll think of you, and I’ll wait with faith,
For the heavens to send me an angel.
