Remembrance Day

Ирина Микейлис
Remembrance Day – red poppies came,
With scarlet colour on the graves,
The minute’s silence – the bowed heads
For we remember all who are dead.

Remembrance Day's with hymns of praise –
So many voices to sing for the brave,
Who lost their lives in combat fields
And left the Earth so much to give.

All churches full with old and young
The tribute for killed in wars to be done,
The National Anthem with standards down,
The hearts are thrilled with grief and pride.

Not to forget the cost of war,
Those thousand crosses in the rows,
The trumpet tune calls to commit
The lifelong peace in Flanders Field.
