Beyond the Wailing Wall

Ìèòÿ Çîëîòîâ
I’ve been looking for you somewhere out there beyond the Wailing Wall
And I’ve been catching you, unattainable.
I’ve been playing with you, as if I am a young boy,
Creating inconceivable worlds.

For you I came up with a lot of titles,
Though of the names you’d already had plethora.
I’ve seen your footprints in the shatters of legends,
Used to save myself in there from loneliness.

Only poetry can convey the inexpressible,
Your ‘I’, a breath of your name,
Reflecting, like a mirror, compelling You –
Both fragile and monumental.

I - in hope to find at least a little of reasonable,
Or maybe not as easily corruptible,
As the crazy turmoil of our days and nights, -
Have been studying you like a universe:

Calculating vibrations and your undulations,
Capturing body’s blissful moments.
You’ve mixed the fear of death and the joy of birth.
The cherished hopelessness of a dream.

I’ve even tried to turn you into myself,
Kissed, measuring pulse and respiration.
As you were changing, my I revealed to me,
And I’d fall in love at the moment of parting.

And I launched out again, there, beyond the Wailing Wall,
I’ve been looking for you there, the only one.
I’ve been finding you, and again, as if I was the young boy,
I’ve perceived you, the mysterious one.
