Стран сильных, чтоб нести добро, немного,
Не больше трёх тех, что крупнее всех,
Вполне им в пору дел великих тога.
А малым и рутиной жить не грех.
Их участь только присоединиться
К альянсу и смотреть со стороны,
Как будет мир гигантами делиться,
Разрушенный в течение войны.
О, Боже, видишь ты, как нравы гру`бы?
В чём истинные замыслы твои?
Не видно ни Швейцарии, ни Кубы
В ниспосланных спасителях земли.
Не быть им на полях Святой Войны,
Лишь раздражать великих созданы.

States strong enough to do good are but few,
Their number would seem limited to three,
Good is a thing that they, the great, can do,
But puny little states can only be.
And being good for these means standing by
To watch a war in nominal alliance,

Can never hope to wage a Global Mission.
