A Crow and a Fox

Любовь Тимофеева 2
Once a Crow found a piece of  cheese
And sat on a branch of the nearest tree.
She decided to have her breakfast, you see,
But was in a hurry indeed.

Her breakfast was still in her bill
When a Fox came up to the tree.
The Fox liked the cheese very much.
But how could she take it or touch?

She went around the tree on her toes.
So greatly nervous she really was.
One minute, two minutes, three minutes passed.
She spoke in a very sweet voice at last.

"My dear sister, you are so nice!
What a lovely neck, what beautiful eyes!
Your feathers shine like silver coins
And you must have an angel voice.
I ask you, dear, don’t be  ashamed,
Please, sing a song for me, I pray.
Looking so nice, having such a voice,
You must be the main bird on the earth, of course!"

The crow was very, very pleased
And happy, she could hardly breathe.
With all her power she gave a cry,
The cheese fell down on the ground. "It’s mine.
Good-bye, my breakfast, the tasty cheese!"
The Fox disappeared among the trees.

Be always you, my friend, afraid
Of those whose voice is sweet.
The man whose voice is too much sweet
Is very sly indeed.
