The fountains mingle with the river
And the river with the ocean,
The winds of heaven mix for ever
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single,
All things by a law divine
In one another’s being mingle –
Why not I with thine?
See the mountains kiss high heaven
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdained its brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea –
What are all these kissing worth,
If thou kiss not me?

Реки же впадают в океан,
В синих небесах ветра резвятся,
Кипенные гонят облака.
Никому на свете милость божья
Вечно одиноким быть не даст
И свою чету найти поможет.
Почему ж не я с тобой сейчас?
Посмотри, целуют небо горы,
И сливается волна с волной;
Ни один цветок не будет в горе,
Если вдруг его предаст другой.
А земля в объятьях солнца света,
И целует лунный свет моря.
Но что значат поцелуи эти,
Если ты целуешь не меня?
