What does it mean to be a woman?

What does it mean to be a woman?
Our work is never done,
Our bodies never fitting,
Our hope never gone.
Or are we stronger then expected?
Are we the ones to realize,
That since the world is always turning,
Staying the same brings demise?
A human fetus,
So complex,
Develops into one of us,
And there we begin a journey,
With many obstacles to pass.
The first, to understand the latter,
The second, to fulfill a crave.
The last and hardest of the three,
Is to suppress the growing craze.
If we speak out - we’re condemning.
If we keep quite - we just let.
If we seek help - we are depending.
If we seek none - we've none to get.
The cruel rulings of our fathers,
Our brothers’ rulings - lacking grip,
Our sons have ultimately forgotten
How it feels to need.
I choose to laugh at the insulting
And hurting words, I choose to miss,
But liberating women worldwide,
Is like a journey to an abyss.
I will not crumble under pressure,
And I will not give up my quest,
Until all women find safety,
I will not have a moment’s rest.
