It Hurts

Ìàðèÿ-Ýëîèçà
I know this is fictional,
My fear – irrational,
My loss – pretty laughable…
But, God, how it hurts!

My pain is all physical –
So deep and so torturing.
I gasp as it’s wrecking me,
My dreams and my thoughts.

How could it be possible?
It must be an accident...
An error, a cruel joke... –
I know that it’s none.

So touching, so passionate –
His life and his suffering,
How much he kept bottled up.
Now all this is gone…

I’m shrieking and snivelling
And pleading for fairness.
My anguish unstoppable,
I wish I could pray.

But death is impartial –
No matter if fictional,
No matter if justified –
It hurts all the same.

It hurts and it burns,
It burns my chest through.
With days it will fade,
It’ll probably pass…

But now… How it hurts!
