Memories of Old Love

Василиса Борцова
We gathered 'round the cozy fire at last,
And sat recalling our youthful past.
The sparks that danced in flames of burning fire
Rekindled old affection and desire.
Thus, memories of long-forgotten dreams
Refilled our hearts with warmth and tender streams.
So, let us keep the love of youth aflame,
And in our hearts preserve its precious name.

Inspired by:

Sir Elmer Fuddwick's "Old Friends"

So we sat and stared at the fire
Lost in old thought and ancient desire.
Half in dream, half in sleep,
In the warmth company keep:
Recalling our past when limbs were strong
Spent in frolic when days were long.
Each word brings subtle smiles that we share;
No other shall know just what put them there.
